| Bat at objects |
18 Oct 05 |
Was there ever anything cuter than our daughter giving her crib mirror's
hanging toys the beatdown? |
| Hold a toy |
28 Dec 05 |
Gwen is now strong enough to hold just about any toy we hand
her, including her
Lamaze Grip and Grab Rattle, which used to be far heavier than she could
handle |
| Play with my fingers and toes |
28 Dec 05 |
For a few weeks now, Gwen has been quite excited to discover
that there are ten fingers on her hands and ten toes at the end of her feet |
| Reach out and grab things |
28 Dec 05 |
Just before Christmas, Gwen started grabbing things we used
to have to put in her hand—and she has mastered getting them to her mouth,
too! |
| Pick up small objects with my thumb and finger |
12 Feb 06 |
On the day of her great–grandmother's 80th
birthday, Gwen
picked up a ball with her thumb and index finger using an attached string.
Coincidence? I think not. |
| Play peek–a–boo |
2 Feb 06, give or take a day |
Gwen has figured out peek–a–boo—as long is she is doing
the hide and reveal. As of 13 Feb 06, she still thinks Daddy is really gone
when he puts the blanket over his own face. She does, though, laugh when
Mommy's head pops out when putting on a sweatshirt, so she's on her way. |
| Put things in containers |
October 2006
|
After months of emptying, Gwen has started to find immense satisfaction in putting anything she can into boxes—other boxes, toys, blocks, cars, etc. Sometimes she even does it on command. |
| Stack blocks |
November 2006
|
Like so many physical things, Gwen really got good at stacking blocks when she associated saying "Stack!" with the action. She delighted all of her Ga–Ga's with this talent over the holidays. |
| Scribble |
Christmas 2006
|
Gwen got an Aquadoodle for Christmas and will deign to scribble on it at Mommy's suggestion. |
| "Help" around the house |
6 June 07
|
We learned a song about picking things up in Wiggleworms, and Gwen has grown to love putting away toys when Mommy sings it. Gwen will sometimes make a little mess and say, "Pick pick" so that Mommy will sing it while Gwen cleans it up. |
| Throw a ball |
January 2007
|
And kick and roll and shout all about it! |
