| Hold my head up
|
6 Nov 05 |
Over the past few days Gwen has shown great progress in
holding her head up for a few moments and moving it back and forth at will |
| Do a mini push–up
|
17 Oct 05 |
Gwen can do this on any hard surface, but she is most likely
to push up when on Mommy's or Daddy's chest |
| Roll from back to front
|
8 Jan 06 |
What a surprise! At 1 am Gwen woke me for a feeding, and
there she was, rolled over and doing a push–up!
Update: Twelve days later, Gwen also managed to roll back to her back from the belly—she was delighted with herself and smiled big to make sure Mommy knew how cool the baby was! |
| Sit up by myself
|
18 Apr 06 |
Gwen has been able to sit up with assistance for quite some
time now, but lately she has really mastered maintaining the sitting-up
position without any propping. She can pull herself to a sitting position
with only the littlest bit of help. |
| Crawl
|
17 Apr 06 |
It would not be exactly true to say that Gwen is crawling,
but she is so close. When she is on a soft surface, like our bed, she can
really scoot. When she is on a hard surface, she sort of affects the
crawling posture on all fours, and rocks back and forth a bit, but does not
really go anywhere. Today, though, she was angry that I left her alone while
I put away the groceries. Her tiny fury propelled her—backwards—all the
way across our rug until she got stuck under the couch. No worries—she was
safe and unhurt, so feel free to laugh at the image. Of course, that she
went the wrong way only riled her up more, and she was ready to strike down
upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger.
Update: Gwen finally, officially, truly started creepy–crawling on Friday 12 May 2006. I just got my new Parent's magazine, and she wanted it badly enough to crawl right across the rug to get it!
Update #2: As of 3 Jun 06, Gwen will crawl to get whatever she wants. We are very happy to be moving in five days, so we can childproof our new house right from the get–go. |
| Stand
|
13 May 06 |
One day after crawling, Gwen also pulled herself to standing
using the headboard on our bed. |
| Walk with help
|
20 May 06
|
On the day Gwen turned eight months old, she was just as pleased as punch to find herself cruising along Grandpa Dan's couch. |
| Walk without help
|
Late August 2006
|
As with many things Gwen does, it is hard to pin down exact dates. She had taken halting steps earlier in the summer, quickly followed by a tumble. Over a few weeks, she began going for longer and longer stretches, and by the end of August, she was a full–fledged walker. And she began climbing the stairs like it was nothing at the very same time! |
| Dance
|
8 Aug 06
|
A few weeks ago, I noticed Gwen hopping and bopping a little more during Wiggleworms. Then, she stopped what she was doing to bounce when Ellen started dancing. Finally, this past week, Gwen has out–and–out started shaking her booty—and her head—when music plays. She gets the biggest two–tooth grin you ever saw and delights in going where the music takes her! |
| Run
|
January 2007
|
Gwen runs like a champ, and her favorite game is running out from a hiding place to surprise Mommy and/or Daddy. |
| Kick a ball
|
January 2007
|
Daddy's future soccer star not only kicks the bejeesus out of every ball she sees, but also takes great delight in squealing "Kick! Kick! Kick!" when she does so. |
